Marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl
Dear Parents/Carers,
On Monday 12th September 2016 and Tuesday 13th September 2016, Porter Croft Academy will celebrate 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl – the world’s number one storyteller.
BFG film afternoon
To start off the celebrations, On Monday 12th September 1:30 pm, parents are invited to join Key Stage 2 to watch the 1989 cartoon animation of BFG (certificate U). This will take place in the school hall; popcorn will be on sale for 20p.
Come to school as a Roald Dahl Character
Tuesday 13th September 2016 will see the biggest ever global celebration of Roald Dahl’s birthday!
To help you join in the worldwide celebrations for Roald Dahl Day, we are asking children to come to school dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl character, there are many to choose from, such as, the BFG, witches, enormous crocodile, fantastic fox to Matilda and many more.
Dream jars
Throughout the day, children will enjoy Roald Dahl themed activities. One of the activities will be to make a dream jar. Each child in the school will design and make their own dream jar in school. Your child will need to bring in a clean, empty jam jar by Monday 12th September 2016 which they can decorate into their special dream during Tuesday’s celebrations.
If you need any more information, please feel free to ask your class teacher.
Thank you
